IQNA – Iran’s best Quran memorizers are to be honored every year at the closing ceremony of the Martyr Salami National Festival, an official said.

Lieutenant General Hossein Salami was the former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) who was martyred during the Israeli regime’s military aggression on Iran in June this year.

Morteza Khedmatkar, an official with the Quran and Etrat Center of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, said the hosting of the festival has been entrusted to the center.

According to the festival’s regulations approved recently, three axes of judging and selection have been determined in this festival, which are infrastructure,  educational and research, and promotion and discourse-building, he noted.

The Martyr Hossein Salami Quranic Festival is designed as a national event to commemorate the martyrs of national power, especially the distinguished commander and Quran memorizer Martyr Hossein Salami, he stated.

It will strive to provide the basis for greater participation of all government and public institutions and organizations by defining precise standards and indicators on the one hand, and also introducing and appreciating effective initiatives in the field of Quran memorization on the other, Khedmatkar added.

He continued, “One of the main goals of this national festival is to monitor, follow up, and ultimately achieve the quantitative goals set out in the Seventh Progress Plan (of training Quran memorizers) on a continuous and annual basis, which requires the serious participation of all responsible institutions and agencies.”
